Approve omp agent tool calls from your phone

Connect omp (oh-my-pi) to handup over MCP, and optionally gate its bash, edit and write tools, so you approve tool calls and answer questions from your desktop or phone.

What handup does for omp

  • Over MCP, the agent can call request_approval, ask_question, notify, check_request and wait_requests. No extension needed.
  • An optional native bridge gates omp's write and exec tools (bash, python, edit, write and more) and races omp's own Approve/Deny dialog: the first answer wins.
  • With the bridge loaded, your decision wakes an idle agent, so it can end its turn instead of polling.

Set it up

  1. Install handup

    On glibc Linux or macOS, use the install script below. On Alpine, use the musl APK package from the downloads page instead. On Windows, download the desktop EXE or CLI ZIP instead of running the install script: the desktop app starts the daemon, or run handup serve in its own terminal for the CLI ZIP. The service command below is Linux/macOS only. (handup setup starts handup and connects every agent it finds in one go; Windows has no background service.)

  2. Add handup over MCP

    Preview, then add handup mcp to the active agent directory's mcp.json. Run /mcp reload in omp, or restart it.

  3. Optional: gate omp's tools

    The native bridge forwards tool calls to handup. Run omp in yolo mode (or a policy allowing the gated tools) so it does not ask a second time.

What the approval looks like

  • Questions appear as clickable cards: radio buttons for one choice, checkboxes for several, plus free text when allowed.
  • Gated bash calls show the exact command preview.
  • A denial, expiry or cancellation blocks the tool call with your feedback or a safe reason the model can read.

Limits

  • MCP alone does not intercept omp's built-in prompts; the bridge does.
  • The bridge uses the local socket, and with no UI available a gated action blocks rather than proceeding.
